Computer recycling program

recycling computers

Saturday morning I was watching the news and heard that I could recycle my computer down at the Safeco field parking lot between 9am and 3pm... for free! Finally I had a reason to unload that computer-sized paper weight that's been sitting around in my basement for the last 2 years. I kept telling myself that I was going to turn it into a server, but I had to be honest that I was never going to spend the time and money to do that.

I arrived eager to unload the old G3 - once a top of the line computer. It was surprising to see how efficiently they organized the line of cars queuing to complete this common errand. We were in and out within fifteen minutes, which was phenomenal considering that I could not see the end to the line of cars I was in. The colossal pile of electronica that I pulled the car in front of was amazing. Monitors, keyboards, mice, CPUs, miscellaneous hard drives and more. I gave up my goods and the guy said, "is that all?". As I turned to shut the trunk I witnessed the keyboard sail across the pile and the clack of keys shattering on impact. Well, goodbye old computer. It was a good run. Maybe you'll be reincarnated as a laptop.
