Sculpture Park Valentine
Mel and I took off a bit early on Valentine's day to catch a glimpse of the Olympic Sculpture Park, which has graced the waterfront district of Seattle. While we weren't able to view the entire park (as it is still in the process of construction and beautification) we were able to enjoy one of the greatest (and very romantic) views of the Puget Sound next to Maximillian's cafe in Pike Place Market. This magnificent addition to Seattle blends right into the landscape and you simply forget that there is traffic buzzing around you at all. This is also the most culture that Belltown currently has to offer. That is, unless shopping for expensive stuff in gentrified neighborhoods is what you consider "cultured".
Stepping inside the SAM building at the South-East corner, we were pleased to find a pair of quirky woven capsules suspended from the ceiling, which allowed you to climb in and hang out! Afterward, we took a gander at the mural on the wall: "If I don't know I know, I think I don't know - If I know I don't know, I think I don't know - If I don't know I don't know, I think I know"... Whatever. The whole mural is a conundrum to me. I'm not much for sculpture, most of it escapes me, but the tin tree was marvelous and made a statement to me. The other one that I like, but haven't seen up-close is "Love & loss".
