The Transition Into Spring
Officially, spring was on the 20th. The only excitement I could muster was that the days had been getting longer and some of the flowers were beginning to pop out. While I was leaving the office to prep for vacation the clouds became black (and I mean black) and a shiver ran through me as I threw up my hood and cursed the winds. "I'm leaving you, Seattle... and I may not return", I threatened emptily.
The next morning Mel and I dragged our pasty hides to the airport clad in fleece and rain shell. A few hours later we arrived in Oakland, picked up our bags and gleefully replaced our jackets for sunglasses. It was wonderful to let the sunshine spill over our bodies. We declared that our first order of business after picking up the keys to our room was to take a walk to the beach. Lupé and Benjimo met us and we did just that. After a bit of having our hair blown about and salted by the ocean air we found a little real estate at the Park Chalet, ordered a couple Mojitos and watched the sun drop into the Pacific.
