Hawai'i is a great escape for those who love outdoor activity. Every day was filled with the exploration of little hideaways, nooks, vistas and other sweet spots. For any activity you can think of, there are about a dozen outfitters who claim to have the best prices and most experienced guides. While the competition likely keeps them all honest, I found that renting the gear was the best. For one, paying the price of a guide for every day youâ€™re there gets expensive.

Living aloha in Hawai'i

Melanie and I just got back from celebrating our 4th anniversary in Hawai'i - tanned, relaxed and ready to greet the regular world with a smile once again. The trip was everything you would expect from a tropical paradise. A few days on O'ahu and a week on Kaua'i gave us a much needed break from the rat-race of school, work and other responsibilities. My work mates have noted that I've maintained the beach bum look, which I am secretly pleased about.There are many stories to tell, which I will detail in further writings of our adventure.

Just about everywhere we turned on the islands, we were in awe of natural beauty. That said, there were a few destinations and vistas that we found particularly stunning, inspiring, etc. It only took a few moments of this pleasure to understand the true meaning of "aloha". It is more than just "love" or "well wishes". It is a oneness and respect for all that surrounds you - a soul nourishing connection. The first time we stopped on the side of the road, we were amazed and couldn't imagine it getting better.
